Alan Wheeler is the Chief Executive of the Textile Recycling Association (TRA), the UK’s trade body representing collectors, sorters, graders and recyclers of used textiles. With more than two decades of experience in the sector, he works closely with governments, international organisations and industry partners to promote policies that support textile reuse, recycling and circularity. Alan represents the industry in global policy discussions, including work linked to the Basel Convention, UNEP and EU initiatives. He also contributes to international research and innovation projects, including the EU Horizon Sort4Circ project, helping to advance automated sorting and fibre-to-fibre recycling solutions for the textiles sector.
